He has been directly involved to very successful translocation of the endangered Rothschild's giraffes into Kigio Wildlife Conservancy from Lake Nakuru National Park and also black rhinos from three National parks in Kenya to the then new Mugie Wildlife Conservancy.
You’ve dreamed of going on safari in Africa. You’ve saved for it. You’ve planned your vacation. You’ve checked all the outfitters and have chosen the best – PUMBA ELITE SAFARIS. Now as you anticipate your first game drive its success all comes down to one person – your tour driver/guide.
His confident smile and warm greeting tell you all is well. Your tour driver/guide escorts you to the safari vehicle and shares with you the day’s journey. You already feel it – this is going to be an incredible adventure! Indeed, nothing is more important to your safari experience than being in the company of a knowledgeable, caring and sensitive guide. Of course, you want your guide to be an expert on the wildlife and flora, to read the bush, and know how to find that elusive leopard or pride of lions.
But, just as importantly, you want your guide to be a good communicator who listens to you and quickly learns your likes and dislikes. “Would you like to mark your territory” (Do you want a washroom stop)? Would you like some bottled water? Perhaps it’s time to take a break to enjoy a beautiful vista? On safari it’s your guide’s job to connect with you just as surely as connecting with the sights and sounds of the savannah. His mission is to make this adventure personal. To be your guide and your friend on this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. We view our guides at PUMBA ELITE SAFARIS as the keepers of our guests’ dreams. This is why we value them so highly. And why we invest in them continually – to make certain they are the finest in the business.
As you look at the thoughtful faces of our guides below, what you’re really seeing is decades of experience born of this land. All our guides are local, having grown up surrounded by the wildlife of Kenya’s parks and game reserves. They bring this life-long passion to you our guest, with enthusiasm, humor and a mission to create the perfect safari experience. Some of them have been serving as long as 20 years. They take as much pride in serving the needs of their guests as they do in their knowledge of the environment.
We always strive to create momentous relationships with our guests, nurturing them and maintaining those relationships for memorable and highly rated unique wildlife experiences. We emphasize on delivering a service atmosphere that accords our guests best photographic opportunities, with nature controlled timely and accurate service delivery as a priority.
There is no question that the roads in Kenya can have some rough patches. This is where a combination of quality, well maintained vehicles and experienced driver-guides can be the difference between a good safari in Kenya and a great holiday experience.
We still operate a variety of vehicles meeting the specific needs of our travellers. For transfers, we use safari buses. We also use Toyota Noah vehicles for private VIP transfers.
For something really special, we can provide transfers in a Mercedes Benz, Toyota Alphard or a luxury 4×4.
The interiors of our vehicles are spacious and designed with the safari traveller in mind. Most have power points for recharging camera batteries. Pop-open roofs allow panoramic game viewing as well as protection from the sun. A cooler box provides chilled water and vehicles also carry a first aid kit and other tools to be prepared for any bump along the way.
All seats have seat belts and pass rigorous safety checks before each safari. The most important part of any vehicle is the driver. Our drivers and driver-guides are well trained and must have extensive experience before they take our travellers on safari.
